A panoply of the finest works by Albrecht Dürer, the master of the Northern European Renaissance, is collected in this magnificent book. Vienna's Albertina Museum is home to the world's most comprehensive collection of works by Albrecht Dürer. Dürer's genius for drawing and painting rivaled that of his Italian contemporaries, and his exquisitely detailed and delicately colored watercolors and prints elevated these to new levels of accomplishment. This book includes many of Dürer's most renowned masterpieces: his watercolors The Great Piece of Turf, A Blue Roller, and Left Wing of a Blue Roller; his chiaroscuro drawings Praying Hands and An Elderly Man of 93 Years; and his precocious silverpoint Self-Portrait at 13--along with numerous other works from the Albertina's collection. Beautifully reproduced, these images convey Dürer's fascination with the world around him and his extraordinary ability to bring that world to life.

{PRETITLE} Albrecht Drer: Master Drawings, Watercolors, and Prints from the Albertina {POSTTITLE}
This is a great book. It is large (a whopping 9x12in), informative, and is a must for any Dürer.By Ethan Stanford
Caveat emptor - this is not a complete catalog of his works by any means. It is simply the works and knowledge of the Albertina museum on paper. You may be disappointed to find that your favorite pieces are not there, but the majority of his most iconic pieces are. You get exactly what is advertised, a book on the Dürer pieces in the Albertina.
For what is in the book is exhibited in extremely high quality. Most pieces are accompanied with a wealth of information, and are superbly reproduced. Some pieces even have a detail that span two entire pages.
Personally, I wished for more of his engravings, there are too many sketches and drawings on display for my taste. Though, this is beyond the scope of the book and I will not count it as a negative.
Not a complete oeuvre of Dürer, but a high quality publication of a selection of his works.
Surprisingly enough there are few books available on Dürer. The present publication, which accompanies an exhibition at the National Gallery in Washington, centers on the master's works on paper, especially his rare and exquisite water colors. It is a very high-quality publication which recommend for its many reproductions of seldom seen works.By Reich Claude
