Author comments

Mark Getlein arrived in New York to pursue advanced music studies at the Juilliard School, but he quickly became equally fascinated by the city's vibrant downtown art scene and magnificent museum collections. For a decade or so he led an interesting but precarious life as a pianist and painter. As a writer and development editor, he has helped to create a series of ground-breaking college textbooks in art and literature, including Art History (Abrams, 1995), A History of Art in Africa (Abrams, 2001), The HarperCollins World Reader, The Longman Anthology of British Literature, and The Longman Anthology of World Literature. This is his fourth edition as author of Living with Art.

Absolutely would recommend this book. I have little to no art education and this book went above and beyond my expectations! It is well written and keeps the reader engaged which is rare for a text book. One of the best investments I ever made!

So it doesn't tell you online that this product is not available to be open on Windows 8 until AFTER you order it and you try to open it on your computer. So now I am scrambling, trying to find SOMEWHERE to open this book to read it for class. So if you have a Windows 8 operating system, don't bother. It won't open for you. This is so messed up. I'm beyond furious. Why didn't they put this up here so I could find a way to get it somewhere else?
